We are reaching the business end of the Inter-house Spelling Bee. This year’s competition has already seen plenty of twists and turns; the first fiercely contested semi-final saw cool, calm and collected Collinson House defeat proud and plucky Priestley House. Winfield House will take on McClure House in the second semi-final. The standard of spelling has been exceptionally high and words such as ‘sangfroid’, ‘mascarpone’ and ‘zeitgeist’ proved no problem for our wordsmiths.
It has been so gratifying to see pupils take such delight in their spelling prowess. I am really looking forward to watching the final unfold at the start of the Summer Term.
