This week in Nursery…

Wow! What another wonderful week in Nursery we have had. It was lovely to be in school for the whole week and the children enjoyed the lovely sunny weather with lots of water play and fun outside.

The children enjoyed learning their new sounds this week ‘h’ and ‘r’ and decorated their sounds with hot colours and red pens.

We used the sound ‘r’ to make our very own rockets this week. The children added their names to the rocket, we practiced writing their names on whiteboards first then they wrote the letters on each square. They all did a fabulous job at writing the sounds and practicing the formation of the letters.

In Maths, the children have been working on prepositions. We developed this skill at carpet time where the children had to listen to the instructions about where to put an object they had chosen. We challenged them by using words such as next to, beside, on top of, underneath, behind.

Then the adult led activity was an under the sea picture where the children had to answer the questions about where the sea creatures were in the picture. This was a great activity for developing not only their understanding of prepositions but also their listening skills.
