Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Old Fold Manor Golf Club last week, to entertain the elderly. Mrs Dobson has since received an email from our guests saying that they loved listening to the children sing, playing Bingo and most importantly interacting with the children.
The children also delighted in their Coronation Parade and picnic last Friday, eating the sandwiches they had made and cakes they had decorated in the week.
This week the children were fortunate to go on yet another trip, this time to Kew Gardens. The children took part in a workshop called ‘People and Plants’. They travelled into the depths of the rainforest inside the Palm House, where the air was heavy and dense with vegetation. Here they took part in an immersive experience, exploring the sights and smells of the rainforest plants. As they journeyed through the rainforest they observed and investigated rainforest products, found out about the importance of the rainforest in our everyday life and the lives of those that live within the rainforest. This built upon our learning in school during topic lessons, about how to survive in the rainforest and the different layers of the rainforest.
