Year 5 Trip to the RAF Museum

Year 5 went to the RAF Museum on Thursday and had a fantastic time. They took part in a Battle of Britain workshop, which helped them learn how important the famous air battle was in protecting our shores. They watched an interesting film before getting the chance to experience what it was like for the RAF working during WW2, and others trying to keep people safe during air raids.

They learned about a pilot who stopped a German plane potentially bombing Buckingham Palace, and the vital role Air Wardens played in helping to protect the public. In the museum itself, they were lucky enough to see a range of planes including a Hurricane and a Spitfire. It was a great day and really helped the children with their understanding of their CLP topic – A Child’s War.
