Athletics Team 2023

The Summer Term has been hugely successful for Mill Hill Athletics. During lunchtimes and after-school training sessions, pupils have shown outstanding dedication and improved tremendously. The season started with the Track and Field Cup at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, a team event allowing Fourth Form and Remove pupils to compete together as a team.

Our next big fixture was the Barnet Championships held at Stone X Stadium. An incredibly successful evening saw six pupils winning their events and gaining selection to represent Barnet at the Middlesex Championships. A big congratulations to the following pupils…

  • Harry P (Murray House): Long Jump and 200m
  • Martina B (Cedars House): 1500m
  • Aliyah E (School House): Shot Put
  • Poppy F-M (Weymouth House): Long Jump and 100m
  • Mia S (Murray House): Triple Jump
  • Edie W (Atkinson House): 1500m

At the end of a busy three week period, the team competed in the London North Championships at Bedford Athletics Stadium. This saw 10 pupils qualify to compete at the national finals.

Culminating in a fantastic event at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, our 10 finalists returned to Mill Hill School at 9.30 pm with two gold, four silver, and four bronze medals. But more importantly, they returned with memories of competing at the UK’s premier Athletics venue that will last a lifetime.

A special mention to the below pupils for their well-deserved national medals:

  • Orhan K (Murray House): Triple Jump (Gold) and 300m (Gold)
  • Harry P (Murray House): Long Jump (Silver) and 200m (Silver)
  • Mia S (Murray House): Triple Jump (Silver)
  • Oliver B (Winfield House): Discus (Silver)
  • Boys (Fourth Form): 4 x 100m Relay (Bronze)

Well done to everyone that has competed for the Mill Hill Athletics Team this year. Hope you are all looking forward to a well-deserved summer break.
