Lower School Prize Giving

Last week, we welcomed Mrs Kate Simon (Head of Grimsdell and Mill Hill School parent) as our Guest of Honour at the Lower School Prizegiving, whilst Mrs Stephanie Miller (Vice-Chair of Governors, Old Millhillian and Belmont parent) presided over events.

In a heartfelt speech, Mrs Simon encouraged the pupils to cherish their childhood, asking them to reflect on the idea of making their younger selves proud of their achievements. As ever, a range of academic and co-curricular prizes were awarded to pupils in the Fourth Form and Remove in recognition of their efforts and achievements this year, with a number of the prize winners being familiar to Mrs Simon from their time at Grimsdell.

Pupils, staff and an excellent turn-out of parents were treated to two musical interludes by Mill Hill pupils, with Mozart’sPiano Sonata K.331’ played by Adam G (Priestley House) and the Lower Sixth Jazz Ensemble: Lana M (Murray House), keyboard; Alexander K (Winfield House), alto saxophone; Ruhan V (Weymouth House), percussion; Ed B (Weymouth House), bass guitar and Neo M (School House), electric guitar performing There will never be another you’ by Harry Warren. Following the conclusion of the Prizegiving, parents, pupils and staff enjoyed afternoon tea in the sunshine whilst the CCF Corp of Drums performed on Top Terrace and provided the audience with some speculator entertainment, performing on Top Terrace.
