Oti Day

It was wonderful to bring all the whole school together for a special outdoor assembly on Monday to talk to the children about Oti Day.

This is a day when we remember a Belmont pupil who sadly died of Sickle Cell Anaemia on 27 February 1988 when he was in in Year 5. Sylvester Oti was incredibly brave and positive during his three years as a Belmontian and some of our current parents were at school with him. We all said a prayer in memory of Sylvester and thought about his family. The pupils all wore a red item of clothing and all funds raised went to the Sickle Cell Society. The Oti Cross Country Course was named after Sylvester and the entire school walked around it at the end of the assembly.
