This term Mill Hill welcomed back Elevate Education to deliver workshops to our Fifth Form and Remove on how to ‘Ace their exams’ and what it takes to become a ‘Study Sensei’. The focus of the acing your exam workshop specifically aimed at Fifth Form, was to learn about the highest value exam preparation tasks, alongside techniques for managing stress and time pressure in specifically learn about the highest value exam preparation tasks, alongside techniques for managing stress and time pressure in their upcoming mock exams. In the ‘Study Sensei’ workshop, Remove pupils found out about conceptual learning to develop deep understanding, as well as how best to structure and organise their notes. They were also given tips about utilising practice exam papers and how to use the syllabus to frame study.

Pupils remarked upon how the sessions helped them to think about the importance of exam preparation, specifically exam room techniques and the significance of routines.

The tips and suggested strategies communicated by Elevate presenters reinforces those that pupils have been hearing in their assemblies, subjects and form over the course of the last twelve months. It is vital that pupils are exposed to effective learning strategies if we are going to train them to move away from unhelpful practices like last-minute ‘cramming’ sessions and the rereading of notes.

As well as running workshops for pupils in schools, Elevate offer free parent webinars that are designed to help children’s studies at home. If you would like to find out more about this support and the sessions being offered to parents, please follow the link here.
