Year 8 Trip to the Museum of Docklands

Last Friday, Year 8 pupils visited the Museum of Docklands, where they received a guided tour of West India Quay to deepen their comprehension of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Fortunately, the weather held up, allowing us to explore West India Quay thoroughly and witness the Import Docks, the starting point of the Trade Triangle. It was here that goods embarked on their journey from London to West Africa.

Situated in the historic warehouses, the museum provided insight into the storage and sale of products cultivated in the Caribbean through slave labour, generating significant profits. Inside the museum, the pupils learned more about the history of the abolition movement, gaining knowledge about key individuals who ardently campaigned to bring an end to the Slave Trade.
