Meet Ms Costa

Meet Ms Kyla Costa, the Lower School KS2 Teacher. We spoke to Ms Costa to learn more about her and her role.

How long have you worked at the school?

I joined the school in September 2023 so one term!

What does your role involve?

I am a Lower School form tutor and currently teach core subjects in Year 4, as well as supporting the Future Skills curriculum lessons in Oracy and Cooking.

What is your favourite thing at the school?

The grounds. The children are so lucky to have such vast, green spaces to explore.

Do you have any advice for our pupils which could help them to get the most out of their time at the school?

Embrace every opportunity that is offered up. You may end up discovering a new passion. That and to stay curious!

What is your favourite book and film for our pupils and why?

Favourite book: The Legend of Podkin One-Ear by Kieran Larwood. It’s an adventure story about a young rabbit who faces challenges that turn his world upside down, but through true grit, determination and the support of others, he triumphs.

Favourite film: Mary Poppins! I have always loved the magic of the movie, the focus on stepping into one’s imagination and the unforgettable songs written by the Sherman Brothers and sung by Dame Julie Andrews!

Could you share an inspirational quote with us? How does it inspire you?

‘Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.’ ~ Mary Engelbreit

This quote encourages me to be present in the moment and consider choices for the future. Whilst reflecting on the past has its place; looking up and ahead will always ensure that you are moving forward and taking steps to grow as an individual.

Can you tell us something that we might not know about you?

I am a trained dancer.
