Austria Ski Trip

Bright and early on Saturday 10 Feb, Mill Hill embarked on a trip over to the snowy Alps of Austria. Once suited and booted, day 1 on the slopes was snowy and wet with beginners discovering pizza stops and how not to crash into their instructors, while the intermediate and advanced groups navigated their way through flurries testing out their turf for the next week. After a fresh dumping of snow, the powder was perfect for taking on new challenges and waking up the legs. The beginners tackled green slopes, with only a few loose cannons blitzing straight down, and by the end of day 2 most of Mill Hill was standing upright!

Duck of the day helmet covers were awarded each evening to pupils who showcased their tumbling talents. For the most part, nominations rolled in for pupils coming off their feet numerous times, falling off chair lifts, or on two occasions causing a domino effect on the magic carpet! Staff were not without their own embarrassment, receiving a few nominations and making their own ski themed Valentine’s Day TikTok much to pupil and parent amusement.

By the end of the week we had celebrated three birthdays, got highly competitive in Mr Down’s quiz, stuffed our faces with pizza and posed for countless photos for the Instagram. We ended the week with glorious sunshine and all pupils taking on the slopes – some of our beginners even accomplished a black slope!

An amazing week was had by all with no injuries, blossoming friendships and new skills unlocked. Thank you to both pupils and staff who made the week an incredible experience, particularly Mr Townson for all his hard work. We’re Mill Hill skiers, of course we had a great week!
