We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Susannah Abbott as the next Head of Belmont School, with effect from September 2024. Dr Abbott is currently the Senior Deputy Head of Queen’s College, London, a role she combined with that of Acting Head of Queen’s College Prep School. Prior to Queen’s, she taught for ten years at Harrow School, becoming the first ever female Housemaster there. Her undergraduate degree and PhD are in History, and she has also taught undergraduates at Reading University. She is a keen sportswoman, having played football in the Premiership- appearing in the FA Cup final in 2003; she is now a member of the FA Council, representing all independent schools in the country. We are looking forward to welcoming Dr Abbott into the Mill Hill family.
On her appointment, Dr Abbott said: “I feel honoured and excited to be appointed the next Head of Belmont, Mill Hill Prep. From my first visit to Belmont, I was struck by its warmth and sense of community. The school’s values – Be Kind, Be Brave and Be You – really resonate with me, as they reflect the approach I have always taken to education; my aim is to focus on each individual and ensure that every single pupil fulfils their potential. I am very much looking forward to building on the excellent legacy that Mr Roberts has left, as well as working with him and the other outstanding leaders across the Mill Hill Education Group.”
