William Winfield Award 2024

It was a distinct honour to welcome back William Winfield, former Head of Mill Hill School from 1995 to 2007, to present this year’s recipients of the prestigious William Winfield Award, both for the Upper and Lower School. Congratulations are in order for Alfie C (Lower School) and Juliette M (Upper School), both deserving winners of this honourable award.

It was a privilege to welcome back William Winfield; he first joined our community in 1970, serving initially as Head of Modern Languages for 12 years, then advancing to Director of Studies for another decade. Following this, he spent five years as Deputy Head before assuming the role of Headmaster in 1995.

In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the Old Millhillians Club has honoured Mr Winfield with a portrait, generously supported by Chairman John Watkiss and fellow club members. Painted by the esteemed artist Angus Hampel, it is currently displayed on the wall of the Favell Building, a fitting location as this new classroom block was a testament to Mr Winfield’s vision and dedication, which was initiated and completed during Mill Hill’s Bicentennial Year.
