At the end of last term, 35 musicians embarked on the Belmont European Music Tour to Belgium. Over four days, the pupils performed in a residential care home, a church, and the market square in Ypres. They were also very fortunate to perform at the Menin Gate Ceremony which is held every evening and commemorates the fallen soldiers of WWI. The concert programme included music from Rachmaninov, One Direction, Elgar, and John Lennon performed by the Sing Out Choir and the Chamber String Trio. The Belgian audience was very complimentary of our pupils and their musical talent, and we managed to raise nearly 200 Euros for our waffle fund! Other highlights of the tour included a trip to a chocolate museum, a canal boat ride in Bruges and a whole day spent at Walibi Theme Park to celebrate the end of the tour. Many thanks to Mr Pateman, Miss Street, Miss Clement and Miss Southall for supporting the trip and to the pupils who represented Belmont so well.
