The London Junior Series Sabre competition is part of the national Leon Paul Junior Series, and featured 101 young fencers from around the UK, competing in U10, U12 and U14 categories.

In the U10 girls sabre, Charlotte in 5JD took the Gold medal, winning both the semi-final and final 10-8 against strong opposition. This result moves Charlotte into 2nd place in the National U10 ranking.

In the U12 Girls competition, Sophia in 7AM also took the Gold medal, with a dominant performance. Sophia won 10-0 in the semi-final, and dominated the final to take the title 10-2. Sophia moves to the top of the National U12 ranking with this result.

In the U14 boys, Ethan in 8GP finished in a strong 10th place, with Nelson in 7UA finishing 23rd in the U12 category.

Sophia and Ariana in 7JP both competed at the Wratislavia Youth Challenge in Poland at the end of March. This is one of the largest youth sabre competitions in the world, with over 500 fencers travelling from 25 different countries to compete in the U11, U13, and U15 sabre events.

Ariana and Sophia placed 63rd and 67th respectively in the U13 Sabre, both making their international debuts. Head Coach Jon Salfield said, “It was great to see both Ariana and Sophia make their international debut, having started fencing at the Belmont School after-school club. Both girls have another year left in this age category, so this first experience of the intensity and speed of international fencing will stand them in good stead for next year.”
