Our Clubs

We offer a fantastic range of clubs: our pupils are lively and curious so we love to feed their enthusiasm.

We design our activities to spark your child’s creativity. We inspire them to try something new and learn about leadership and teamwork. The talents and interests we cultivate now will nourish them in the future.

Reception Clubs- Autumn Term 2018

Clubs Description

Monday

Multi Sports – Sports Academy UK: (External instructor club, Mr Daniel Lewis) 3.15pm – 4.00pm, £7 per session An exciting and action packed program of activities including basic skills for sports and team building. Each session includes a personal development module which involves lots of fun and games that help improve skills such as throwing and catching, balance and coordination as well as fitness. N.B: If you took part in this club during Summer Term you will still need to apply to re-join.

Tuesday

Football Club – Sports Academy UK: (External instructor club): 3.15pm – 4.00pm, £7 per session An exciting after school Football club, that will enhance the children’s knowledge, awareness and skills associated with the game. We are non-selective, no previous experience necessary and it is suitable for both girls and boys. We would like to develop a team, or two if numbers dictate, that will compete in a local tournament with other schools in the Summer Term 2019. Training will take place on the school AstroTurf and suitable training shoes will be required.

Wednesday

Karate – London Dragons (External instructor club): 3.15pm – 4.15pm – £6 per session. The Karate classes are for boys and girls from Reception to Year 2. The classes are designed to follow the Wado Ryu UK Syllabus which is governed by the EKF (English Karate Federation). Please note: There is an additional annual charge of £40 to be paid to the EKF. Once a member your child can then be graded. Proper Karate clothing will also be required. Pupils that took part in this club in Summer Term will continue to do so but there are some new places available.
Tap & Modern Dance Club (External instructor club): Ms Lindsay Harding: 3.20 – 4.10pm – £7 per session Following the ISTD syllabus the children will cover the basics of Tap in the Pre-Primary grade. This helps the children develop musicality, strength, balance and most importantly confidence! In Modern, they will also follow the ISTD syllabus and they will learn about posture, technique and develop their core strength. The exercises help encourage musicality as well as performance skills. Both genres are a really fun way to be introduced to 2 of the 3 core techniques in dance and with the class being split will allow children to have the chance to do both styles in the one class! These classes are run by BOP and will take place at The Mount Mill Hill International, Milespit Hill. Grimsdell staff will walk the children over to the Mount Mill Hill International and parents must then collect their children from there. Pupils that took part in this club in Summer Term will continue to do so but there are some new places available.

Thursday

Street Dance – (External instructor club, Reception children included): 3.15pm – 4.00pm £6 per session Street dance club will be a fun and energetic club where the children will enjoy different dance games and develop a sense of rhythm. N.B: If you took part in this club during Summer Term you will still need to apply to re-join.

Friday

Ballet – (External instructor, Reception included): 3.15pm – 4.00pm – £5 per session. Ballet gives you strength, flexibility and poise. It helps you develop good posture, which is not only good for your appearance but also good for your spine and internal organs. It is a great form of exercise that teaches strong dance technique and a great sense of musicality. Pupils that took part in this club in Summer Term will continue to do so but there are some new places available .
Chess Coaching Club – (External instructor club, Mr Tom Allen): 3.15pm – 4.00pm – £80 per term Tom Allen, an international Chess coach with over 20 years of experience, will continue to run the classes. Pupils that took part in this club in Summer Term will continue to do so but there are some new places available.

Greek Club – Mrs Josephides: 3.15pm – 4.00pm An introduction to basic Greek language through traditional games and songs.

Tuesday

Cello Club – (Year 2 only) Dr Gledhill: 3.15pm – 4.00pm, £15 per session / Cello hire £65 An opportunity for the children to take their first steps into learning the cello within a small group.
Football Club – Sports Academy UK: (External instructor club): 3.15pm – 4.00pm, £7 per session An exciting after school Football club that will enhance the children’s knowledge, awareness and skills associated with the game. Mini Tennis Club – Mrs Suarez-Rivas: 3.15pm – 4.00pm At Mini Tennis we will work on building the basic skills for the sport. Tennis is not the easiest sport for young children to learn so the key is to make sure they are having lots of fun. This club will take place both indoors and outdoors.
Lego Club – Ms Vanstone: 3.15pm – 4.00pm What child does not like Lego?  Lego club is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop spatial intelligence, problem solving and fine motor skills through stimulating activities. Students will build vehicles, buildings, food and whatever leaps into their imaginations. This class is a chance to offer your child a time to relax, create, innovate and collaborate.
Fine Motor Skills Club – Miss Mason: 3.15pm – 4.00pm This club is to help children further develop their fine motor skills which involve a refined use of the small muscles which control the hand, fingers and thumb. With the development of these skills, a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing. We will be using a wide range of resources and games which promote the strengthening of these muscles each week through play.

Wednesday

Ball Skills/Games Club – Mrs Suarez-Rivas: 8.00am – 8.30am Ball Skills club will provide a great opportunity to help build on basic game-playing skills, and in particular, throwing, catching, bouncing and aiming. The focus of the club is to encourage pupils to participate and develop skills in a wide range of sports, drills and fun games leading to hockey, basketball, tennis, football, handball, and others. We hope that the children will enjoy an active start to the day to get their brains buzzing for learning!

Cooking Club – Mrs Dean/Mrs Harvey: 3.15pm – 4.00pm Learning how to prepare healthy meals is an important skill in life, and the earlier children start the better. By acquiring this invaluable skill, children can also gain an understanding of the importance of a healthy and balanced diet whilst having fun.
Keyboard Club (Year 2 only) – Ms Wakefield: 8.00am – 8.30am An opportunity for the children to take their first steps into learning the keyboard within a small group and develop the skills learnt during their curriculum lessons

Thursday

Street Dance Club – (External instructor club, Ms Sophia Theodosiou): 3.15pm – 4.00pm – £6 per session Street dance club will be a fun and energetic club where the children will enjoy different dance games and develop a sense of rhythm. N.B: If you took part in this club during Summer Term you will still need to apply to re-join.
Mrs Moir’s Magical Mindfullness Club (Year 2 only) – Mrs Moir: 12.00noon – 12.30pm Mindfulness is all about being aware of your breathing. We will be paying attention to ourselves, specifically our thoughts and feelings. We will be breathing, meditating and learning how to be mindful. We will eat mindfully, we will walk mindfully, we will breathe mindfully and we will be mindful of the world around us.

Marvellous things can happen by just being mindful. Come along and see for yourself…

Craft Club – Miss Davey: 3.15pm – 4.00pm In Craft club children will have the opportunity to use a variety of materials to create amazing artwork from painting to card making, collage and scrapbooking.

Science Club – Mrs Patel: 3.15pm – 4.00pm Mad about Science? Then this is the club for you. You will have the opportunity to discover and explore through fun, hands on experiments and activities. We will also explore the outside and venture into the Science Graden.
Cricket Club – Sanjay Patel: 3.15pm – 4.00pm The programme is suitable for all children new to cricket as the sessions are designed to teach the basic skills of the game: batting, throwing, catching, bowling, running, teamwork, communication and the spirit of the sport.
