We raise funds for our chosen charitable causes and for the school but our main aim is to provide fun opportunities for parents, children and staff to get together in an informal atmosphere that promotes a strong sense of community.
All parents and guardians are automatically part of the GPA. We hold bi-termly meetings that are open to everyone to attend and operate a class rep system that helps each class feel involved and spreads the workload amongst us!
Part of our events calendar involves working alongside the teaching staff to deliver learning experiences for the children- this year we have been able to fund a visit by owls to enhance the Autumn Term topic “Into the Wood” and made the most of our multi-lingual parent body in Language Week by inviting dozens of families into the classrooms to introduce their home languages to the children.
Socially, the 2017-18 school year has been very busy: Halloween is a special time of year for Pre-Prep children and we kicked off half term by celebrating in style with a Halloween Party held down the road at our fellow Foundation School, Belmont Preparatory School. We also took over a screen at a local cinema for an end of term outing to see Paddington 2. For the adults, our Quiz Night and Art Auction at Mill Hill School was sold out to parents and staff and raised a lot of money for a charity promoted by Grimsdell families, Auditory Verbal UK.
With the help of all our families we have also organised other exciting and rewarding activities, including participating in the Rotary Shoebox Scheme, Children in Need and a Presents for Parents day for the children before the Christmas holiday, as well as co-ordinating with the school to produce Christmas cards for the children to give to their loved ones.
Please look out for our announcements in the Grimsdell Newsletter and on the GPA noticeboard. We thank you for all your help, support and enthusiasm over the year!
