Honouring Resilience: Mill Hill School's Archive Morning for VE Day
On Thursday 8 May 2025, we hosted a special Archive Morning to mark VE Day and reflect on its remarkable wartime history. Alumni and visitors explored how the School navigated the challenges of World War II, with displays of documents, artefacts, and personal stories.
A highlight of the event was the chance to see an original Anderson shelter, a reminder of the resilience shown during wartime. Guests also toured the Old Millhillians’ Room, where displays captured the School’s story of displacement to St Bees, pioneering psychiatric care, and secret contributions to Bletchley Park.
As many around the world celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we also celebrated Mill Hill’s enduring spirit of innovation, courage, and compassion. These values, forged through adversity, continue to be central to the School’s identity today. Guests enjoyed tea in the Bursary Room, where they shared memories, creating a meaningful connection to the past and a renewed appreciation for the enduring strength of the Mill Hill community.
