In the economic and political landscape of our times, families are right to question the value of an education. At Mill Hill Schools, we feel that value should be found in the entire experience of being a Millhillian, now and long into the future.

Our collective experiences in the last few years have, if nothing else, clearly shown the importance of community in our lives. The Mill Hill community is so much more than a first-class education. It is a network of support, of wisdom, of connections, of friendship, and of shared experience – and to be part of this community matters dearly.

With this in mind, we turned to our own community to ask them for something precious – their advice – which was collected quite simply with the question, “What would be your advice to someone starting at Mill Hill tomorrow…?” The results were practical and profound, fascinating and funny.

We heard about realising potential, exploring passions, and making every day count. We learned techniques for getting extra doughnuts and where the best sweeties are to be found. And we heard about asking for help, how it’s ok to have a bad day, and the incredible power of friendship. We heard Mill Hill speak in its own, authentic words both to those inside, and those about to join, our community.

The result is this short film, entitled “Our Advice to You”. The film was designed to give this genuine advice – from our very youngest Grimsdellians to our more ‘experienced’ Old Millhillians – to anyone about to start the adventure of life at our school. This is not a film about our beautiful setting, our rich heritage, or the incredible successes of our young people and alumnae; it is simply a chance to share what we – as a community – have learned through our time at school and beyond.

This is the true value of a Mill Hill education. To be part of a community that cares about you, your wellbeing, and your future – now and for the rest of your life.
