Tim Phillips Shield Invitational Tennis Competition

Alistair Megrani, Junior winner and Ethan Lieber, Junior runner up

On Saturday 6 May, 36 Millhillians competed in the fourth annual Tim Phillips Shield Tennis Competition.

To give a little background to this event OM Tim Phillips ex-President of Wimbledon reconnected with the School a few years ago and agreed to lend his name to the Shield. Past winners of this event have been invited by Tim to the grounds at the All England Club to play tennis, have a tour of the Club behind the scenes and to enjoy afternoon tea in the exclusive lounge overlooking the grounds.

This year was the first time we have had four different categories competing for the Shield, Junior and Senior Boys and Junior and Senior Girls.

Not only was there an excellent standard of Tennis played, but those who competed showed true sportsmanship and etiquette on the court throughout the morning as parents watched on during one of the School’s busiest Foundation Open Mornings.

It was excellent too to see that three of the Junior finalists were Fourth Formers which certainly bodes well for the future of Tennis at Mill Hill.
