A warm welcome to Mill Hill, one of the UK’s best known and most reputable independent schools. Founded in 1807 by non-conformists, our original mission was to offer an excellent education to young people irrespective of their background, and to do so close to London but away from the pressures of the inner-city. Two hundred years on this belief in excellence, innovation and providing a ‘London in the Countryside’ feel is still central to our work.

As our recent results and ISI inspection show, Mill Hill is an outstanding institution which, in many areas, leads the independent sector. We are fully co-educational with 900 pupils in total, 100 of whom are boarders. We are proud to be the flagship school of the Mill Hill Education Group – the UK’s fastest growing, not-for-profit group of independent schools.

Fundraising for Movember 2024

It’s November. It’s three degrees outside and pupils are gathering at the Farm Road changing rooms despite the cold. Five buckets are lying in wait, all filled with ice and freezing water. This was the ice bucket challenge that our Netball and Hockey girls participated in to show support for the Mill Hill School Rugby team who were raising money for Movember this year.

Remembrance Day Service 2024

Mill Hill held its annual Call to Remembrance Service, honouring those who served. Pupils, staff, and the community reflected during a moving ceremony, including the Last Post and a Chapel service.

Meet Mrs Roberts

Mrs Heather Roberts, Communications Manager at Mill Hill since April 2024, creates content connecting alumni and supporters. A former fashion editor, she champions sustainable fashion and loves the school’s history. Her favourite quote, “Not all those who wander are lost,” inspires embracing life’s uncertainties.

Mill Hill School celebrates important centenary of radio history

On Friday 18 October 2024, Mill Hill School celebrated 100 years since the first successful two-way trans-global communication that took place between radio amateurs in the UK and New Zealand. One of which was Cecil Goyder, a pupil from Mill Hill. With call sign 2SZ, Cecil contacted Frank Bell, a sheep farmer from Shag Valley in New Zealand, call sign 4AA.

Mill Hill School Corps of Drums at the Lord Mayor’s Cadet Music Competition

On 13 October, Mill Hill School Corps of Drums excelled at the Lord Mayor's Cadet Music Competition, winning Best Drum Corps and Best Bugler awards. Led by Maya D, their technical display and Alex H's emotive bugle solo impressed judges. A proud moment for the cadets!

Meet Mr Dweck

Mr Richard Dweck, Biology Teacher and Digital Strategy Coordinator, has been at Mill Hill for five years. He leads digital learning, coordinates Key Stage 3 Science, and teaches GCSE and A-level Biology. He values resilience, embraces challenges, and has scuba-dived with sharks!

Cecil William Goyder: First Two-way Communication

Mill Hill honours Cecil Goyder, who made the first global two-way radio call in 1924. Pupils will recreate this historic achievement for its 100th anniversary.

Celebrating Success on A Level Results Day

Mill Hill celebrates exceptional A Level results, with over half of grades at A*/A and 84% at A*-B. Highlights include pupils heading to Russell Group universities, Oxbridge, medical schools, elite arts institutions, and professional sports pathways.

Sports Day 2024

Mill Hill’s Sports Day 2024 celebrated teamwork, determination, and athletic excellence. Highlights included Milo R’s record-breaking Shot Put and Cedars House winning overall. A memorable event for the entire school community!
