The Belmont woods are a very special part of the Belmont experience. Generations of Belmontians in the past had the freedom to use the woods for creative play almost without restriction. The days of tree houses and being lost for hours in the ‘Cornfield’ are past, however. We now have strict guidelines which children must follow before they may play in the woods.

The woods are usually open to pupils in Upper School, weather permitting, for part of the summer and autumn terms. A member of staff on supervision duty is responsible for pupils using the woods.

The Poon Nature Reserve area is situated on the edge of the woods and is used by pupils in Science and Art lessons as well as other fun activities during the course of the year.
