- A Year in Careers at Mill Hill

This Year in Careers
Over the past year, we have seen a wealth of Careers activities take place at Mill Hill, and across the our wider Mill Hill Schools. Pupils from all year groups have had opportunities to explore future pathways, expand their horizons and build the necessary skills for the future of work.
This year in Careers culminated in the inspiring Foundation Day speech from Natalie Campbell MBE, giving her Lessons in Leadership, and the fantastic range of experiences pupils are taking part in over Enrichment Week.

Highlights across year groups
Looking back on this academic year, all pupils from Fourth Form to Upper Sixth have had a range of careers-related experiences:
Fourth Form (Year 9) had their first Careers interaction through Martlet in the Autumn Term as they were introduced to Unifrog and the Mill Hill Careers Journey.
Remove (Year 10) seized the opportunity to develop their teamwork, communication and resilience through the Leadership Co-curricular programme, while all Fifth form pupils benefited from a 1-1 meeting with a qualified Careers advisor to discuss their post-16 options.
Through the PSHE and Futures programme, pupils from all year groups have been thinking about building their CV, understanding the trends impacting the present and future labour market.
In Futures, Lower Sixth pupils heard visiting speakers give their expert perspectives: James Darley, Founder and CEO of Transform Society, spoke about the Future of Work and careers in public service; while Scott Stevens, Commercial Director at St. James’s Place, shared his insights on writing a stand-out CV and impressing at interviews.

Engagement with Careers education has reached all corners of the Mill Hill Schools, with year eight pupils at Belmont enjoying their Careers Morning and Remove pupils from Mill Hill International attending our International University Fair. As the Careers programme continues to grow, we hope to be able to facilitate more moments for collaboration, exchange and learning across the schools on the Ridgeway.

Old Millhillians Careers Support
We have also seen the involvement of Old Millhillians in the Careers programme continue to grow and offer pupils a real-world insight into a range of professions. From professional networking events with the Old Millhillians Club, to the inaugural Careers & Conversations morning, there is a unique quality to the sharing of wisdom, experience and advice among members of the Mill Hill community.
Looking Ahead
Having joined Mill Hill in March, it has been a pleasure to start meeting pupils and parents at events including the Lower Sixth UCAS evening, to Remove’s Competitive Admissions evening. It is great to see so many families thinking strategically about future pathways and making the most of the long summer ahead. If you are looking for ways to help your child build their portfolio and expand their knowledge, make sure you have a look at the opportunities available in Mill Hill’s Careers Bulletins:
As we look ahead to the next academic year, it is exciting to see how much the Careers offer is expanding and the positive momentum we are taking forward. From a series of Careers & Conversations and OM speakers in the Autumn term, to a Whole School Careers Fair in Spring, there is plenty to look forward to and get involved with.
