  • Celebrating 50 Years of Women at Mill Hill : Caroline M
January 30, 2026

Meet Caroline M

This month, as part of our 50 Years of Women at Mill Hill Campaign, we are proud to highlight Caroline M (School), our Head Girl, who is thriving in Year 13 and has recently been offered a place at Oxford.

Studying Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Geography, while also representing the School on the Netball court, Caroline truly embodies Excellence.

We spoke to Caroline about what Celebrating 50 Years of Women at Mill Hill means to her, reflecting on how far the School has come in championing equality and why this progress matters.

Can you name a woman who has inspired you?

My geography teacher Mrs Gilbert has inspired me, I think most of all because of her passion for the subject. It is infectious, whenever I am in a lesson with her I get excited about learning. She inspired me to apply for Oxford and to pursue geography at degree level, which I have accepted an offer from. I attribute that to Mrs Gilbert passion and her aspiring me to achieve and aim high

What does being Head Girl mean to you?

I think the most important thing is not necessarily how you lead but how you show yourself around school, whether that’s showing up on time of getting involved with lots of things outside of lessons. For me that is netball and encouraging girls to get involved in sport or academic extra-curricular such as Geography club. Encouraging everyone to make the most of the opportunities that Mill Hill offers.

What advice would you give to younger girls?

Don’t be afraid to get involved in things that you might be afraid you are not good at or good enough for. Get involved in as many things as possible, it is important to fail and learn how to fail and how to learn from failure.

What does not mean to you to be celebrating 50 years of Women at Mill Hill?

I am not really part of any girls only club, apart from Netball, but I think that is the point. Now that it has been 50 years of women at Mill Hill we are now at a more equal standing and girls get the same opportunities as boys and that is something to be celebrate. It is about how we can move this forward so that everyone gets the same opportunities that we get.
