Current pupils and aspiring Old Millhillians in the world of Technology were invited to attend the first IT and Technology event run by the Old Millhillians Club, and benefited from hearing the experiences and insights of two industry veterans. At the talk, they heard about general technology trends in the insurance sector and an overview of what is happening in the cybersecurity field.

Martin Young (Belmont 1973-78) has worked in Technology for over 30 years, primarily in the London Insurance market. His experience spans most areas of the industry, having worked his way up from a trainee programmer to Chief Technology Officer for Convex Insurance.

Paul Summer is a Principal Cyber Security Consultant for the boutique cybersecurity consulting firm RightCue Assurance. He provides Cyber Security advice and guidance to organisations who recognise that they require specialist help. He has extensive Cyber Security knowledge and experience across many different sectors, which he has gained from his 20+ years of service for HM Forces and 10+ years working in operational IT environments. His jobs have ranged from delivering security accreditation on Royal Navy Mission systems, developing and transitioning major cyber programmes, advising and designing secure systems, briefing Generals, and Ethical hacking and threat intelligence.

Martin and Paul shared their experiences working in Technology, their views on career opportunities, and the changes they see on the horizon.
