Enrichment Trips

Netball and Rugby Tour to Australia

The Australia Netball and Rugby tour has safely landed in Brisbane! The group are off on their first excursion today to Australia zoo with first matches taking place over the weekend. The group are looking forward to exploring the Gold Coast in Sydney later on their tour, alongside a wealth of enjoyably competitive matches and engaging training.

Partnership Tour to India

The India team arrived on Sunday at Sri Jayendra School with our pupils diving straight into their work with Years 5, 6, 7 and 9. Conversational English lessons, Music, Drama and Art projects have been the main feature so far with terrific engagement from the pupils at the school. Our pupils also did a terrific job of addressing the 600 pupils during their assembly sharing news and stories from Mill Hill and starting to create memories that will no doubt last a lifetime.

Partnership Tour to Zimbabwe

We arrived in Victoria Falls on Saturday after a very smooth (but tiring) journey down. After unpacking and settling in, we engaged in a Tag refresher course and got to know the local TRT volunteers. On Sunday, we prepared our kit for Monday and popped over to EleCrew where we saw nine orphaned elephants who are being cared for by a devoted team of volunteers, and we will have the opportunity to work closely with them during our time here.

On Monday, we were posted to our primary schools for the first of our coaching sessions. Our pupils have been putting their skills to the test, learning the pupils’ names and of course singing together constantly! The songs have continued into our evenings as we share stories around the camp fire.

History Battlefields Tour

Despite record-breaking temperatures, we have embarked on the History Department's 24th annual visit to the Battlefields of the Western Front with 21 Fourth Form pupils. So far, we have visited Essex Farm and Tynecote cemeteries, laying crosses in remembrance of five Old Millhillians who lost their lives there. Today, the pupils also got to experience the oppressive heat of the trenches at the Passchendaele Museum, and tomorrow will visit the Somme to remember those who lost their lives in the summer of 1916, including many more Old Millhillians, who will be remembered with a wreath at the Thiepval Memorial. Tonight, pupils will experience the Menin Gate ceremony: a tradition which is over 100 years old in which the sacrifices of thousands of young soldiers, including several Old Millhillians, are remembered.

History Berlin Trip

This week, 16 Remove pupils have been exploring Berlin as part of their study of Nazi Germany, the Holocaust and the Cold War. Highlights included a guided walking tour of Berlin, taking in key historical sites such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial and the Olympic Stadium.

Pupils visited the Topography of Terror Museum to deepen their understanding of the rise of the Nazi regime and its impact on Germany. A visit to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp provided a powerful opportunity for reflection on the human consequences of Nazi policies. Pupils also visited the site of the Wannsee Conference, considering the stark contrast between the peaceful surroundings and the decisions made there that shaped the Holocaust. Throughout the trip, pupils have engaged thoughtfully with challenging history, demonstrating maturity, curiosity and respect.

Physics Trip to CERN

Our Physics trip to Switzerland combined cutting-edge science with cultural exploration. At CERN, we witnessed a plasma demonstration at a fusion reactor, captured in infra-red to reveal heat and energy flow in striking detail. We also visited the control centre and exhibition areas, gaining insight into particle physics and the operation of the Large Hadron Collider.

A visit to the Maison Cailler, the “House of Chocolate,” offered a different perspective, with full-spectrum imaging blending infra-red and visible light. Beyond CERN, we explored Lausanne University and the United Nations headquarters, highlighting global collaboration in science.

The trip also included a visit to the medieval town of Gruyère, providing a cultural contrast to the scientific focus. Overall, it was an inspiring experience showcasing physics in both advanced research and everyday life.

Geography Trip to Croatia

Pupils enjoyed a rich and varied Geography trip to Croatia, combining fieldwork with memorable experiences. A boat trip off the coast of Korčula gave pupils the opportunity to snorkel and observe marine wildlife firsthand, deepening their understanding of coastal ecosystems. Kayaking excursions allowed pupils to admire dramatic coastal landforms while exploring the processes of coastal erosion in action.

A tour of the Old City showcased striking and creative architecture, alongside free time to sample local cuisine and purchase souvenirs. Inland, a hike through Kocje Nature Park provided insight into diverse ecosystems and the effects of rock weathering. Pupils also embraced a new challenge, trying slackline walking under the supervision of experienced guides, who offered encouragement and support throughout.

The trip provided an engaging blend of physical activity and geographical learning, leaving pupils with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation of Croatia’s natural landscapes.

Business & Economics trip to New York

Our A Level Business and Economics students are currently having the trip of a lifetime in New York City! Over the past few days they’ve toured Madison Square Garden, explored Wall Street and the Financial District, and visited the United Nations Headquarters, seeing first-hand the business and economic concepts they study in the classroom come to life on the streets of Manhattan. Between the learning, there’s been plenty of fun too - from the buzz of Times Square to a breezy ferry ride past the Statue of Liberty - and the group still has a few exciting days ahead to make memories and to pick up a few important case studies!

Religious Studies trip to Southern Spain

Our pupils have been making the most of the sunshine as they explore some of Andalusia’s most remarkable religious and cultural landmarks. The tour has taken them through centuries of history, architecture, and tradition, giving them a vivid sense of the region’s rich heritage. The standout moment so far has undoubtedly been our visit to the Mezquita in Córdoba. Its vast forest of arches, serene courtyards, and breath taking blend of Islamic and Christian design left a lasting impression on everyone. It is, without question, one of the most awe‑inspiring places of worship I have ever stepped inside. The pupils were captivated, asking thoughtful questions and taking in every detail. It has been a joy to watch them learn, reflect, and experience these extraordinary sites first hand.

Spanish trip to San Sebastián

The Fourth Form and Remove trip to San Sebastián has been a fantastic experience! The group immersed themselves fully into the local culture through Spanish street interviews, a city treasure hunt, and a hands-on pintxos-making session. The pupils mastered a salsa choreography set to Bad Bunny, shopped in the city centre and unwound with ice cream and beautiful sunsets. The journey concluded with a memorable trip to Bilbao where we explored the world-renowned Guggenheim Museum and the historic Siete Calles.

CCF Central Camp

The CCF have travelled to Lydd to join cadets from all over London and the South East on camp. So far, the cadets have braved the elements on exercise learning how to conduct training in a built-up area to take control of buildings and fighting enemy forces. They have also had the incredible opportunity to learn from current soldiers about weapons and armour through modern history, tracking and trap setting, and got to put their marksmanship and tactics to the test as they shot blank rounds, paintball and shotguns.

We’re now looking forwards to target shooting, team building skills, adventurous training and a competition to prove Mill Hill School’s contingent as the best!

Golf Tour to Norfolk

Mill Hill golfers enjoyed a successful tour at Wensum Valley Country Club in Norfolk, beginning under beautiful sunshine with a 2pm Monday tee-off. Ben J (Remove) claimed the opening day with a score of +6, earning both the win and some well-deserved prizes. Day two featured a 10am round on the Valley Course, one of two outstanding layouts boasting stunning countryside views. A scramble format brought mixed year groups together, with Luis VDK (Lower Sixth) and Mykhail M (Remove) emerging victorious. The tour continues with a padel competition ahead of watching the England game together.

Cricket Tour to Yorkshire

Our cricket tour to Yorkshire has been a great success, with two strong victories against Hymers College and St Peter’s, York. Francesco C (Remove) led the way on day one with an outstanding 101, while Noah contributed to a superb 120-run partnership in the second match. There were excellent individual performances throughout, alongside impressive leadership both on and off the field. The mixed group of U14, U15 and U16 players bonded exceptionally well, creating a fantastic atmosphere and strong team culture. A trip to Headingley to watch a women’s international added to the experience, with some of the boys even making an appearance on Sky TV.

Tennis tour to Hampshire

We’ve had a fantastic couple of days on tour with plenty of hours spent out on court. The players have been working with Pete, our brilliant Level 5 coach, developing their technical and tactical skills before focussing on doubles today ahead of our final end-of tour tournament. Despite the heat, our pupils have shown real resilience, made fantastic effort and demonstrated excellent teamwork. Let’s hope it pays off in the tournament!
