Enrichment Week 2026

As the academic year drew towards its close, Enrichment Week provided a fitting reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom, celebrating culture, community and challenge in equal measure.

The heatwave set the tone for the week, and things were certainly heating up across the school too. In the boardroom, pupils tackled business challenges in Mill Hill’s own version of The Apprentice, while others pitched Dragons’ Den-style business plans for fictional sports clubs in Physical Education before heading off to learn more through workshops at Twickenham, home of English Rugby Union. The temperature rose further in Modern Foreign Languages, where things quite literally heated up in the kitchen as pupils cooked dishes inspired by the cultures they had studied.

Elsewhere, creativity and problem-solving were on full display. Design & Technology and Computer Science joined forces to challenge pupils to design and programme robots, while Mathematics explored the links between art and geometry through the work of Escher. Art and Psychology examined creativity, perception and symbolism through visits to Tate Modern and the Freud Museum, while workshops led by Frazer Scott and George Glew offered pupils an insight into the creative process behind song writing and performance. The week also included The Big Trade, where teams tested their financial acumen and gained an insight into the world of stocks and shares.

The week also provided opportunities to bring learning to life through a range of visits and experiences. Monologues of the Macabre explored the darker side of storytelling through trips to the London Dungeons and the theatre, whereas RS and Classics examined questions of identity through visits to cultural and historical landmarks, such as St Pauls Cathedral. Science combined investigative challenges with a visit to the RAF Museum, whilst Drama concluded their academic enrichment with a West End production, bringing to life many of the theatrical concepts explored earlier in the week.

Outreach Days

Despite the extreme heat forcing us to cancel many of our original plans for Outreach Days during Enrichment Week, our students demonstrated true Mill Hill spirit by adapting with resilience, enthusiasm and creativity.

Wednesday focused on raising awareness of the charities we support, with students learning about the important work these organisations do and worked alongside industry experts to develop marketing content designed to promote their causes. The quality of the entries was great, and we look forward to sharing some of this fantastic student-created content across Mill Hill’s socials throughout the next academic year. A particular highlight of the day was an inspirational talk from Josh Coombes, founder of Do Something For Nothing, whose powerful messages about humanity, community and pursuing a path that brings happiness resonated strongly with us all.

Thursday brought a lively and enjoyable Taskmaster-style challenge, with plenty of fun, teamwork and problem-solving on display. Several outreach projects were also able to go ahead. Students hosted afternoon tea and bingo sessions for residents at local retirement estates, worked with younger pupils at St Vincent’s Primary School through a music project, baked and decorated cakes for a local charity fundraiser, and accompanied a Belmont group to see The Lion King.

While the week may not have unfolded exactly as planned, there were plenty of valuable opportunities for learning, service and community engagement.
