Inter-House Shield 2025-2026

Last year’s sharing of the shield between Atkinson and McClure set the stage for an unforgettable contest, and this year certainly did not disappoint. From the very first event, competition was fierce, with every house setting its sights on lifting the shield and claiming bragging rights.

In autumnal sunshine, Atkinson and Weymouth made early statements, winning Senior and Junior Cross Country respectively. Atkinson continued their dominant form with outstanding performances in House Drama and Hockey. Not to be outdone, School showcased their strength across multiple arenas, securing victories in Touch Rugby, Debating, and Swimming.

The Spring Term brought fresh excitement and new challengers to the fore. Cedars claimed both the Six Mile Cup and General Knowledge; McClure triumphed in the Ten Mile Cup; School demonstrated intellectual excellence by winning the Top of the Bench Chemistry Challenge; Murray celebrated success in the Spelling Bee; and Atkinson once again proved their class by taking victory in the CCF Newcastle competition.

Beyond the headline events, this year’s competition has been driven by consistent effort and commitment. Valuable points have been earned through effort grades and commendations, highlighting the breadth of talent across all houses, with Weymouth leading in effort and McClure excelling in commendations.

The Summer Term concluded in style, with Cedars staking a strong claim for the shield through a clean sweep of Sports Day, topping both the team events and track and field.

A huge thank you goes to staff for delivering such a rich programme of events and well done to every pupil who has represented their house with pride and passion throughout the year.
