- Launch of our Student Charity and Community Action Executive Committee

We are delighted to announce the launch of Mill School’s new Student Charity and Community Action Executive Committee, an inspiring initiative designed to unite our community in giving back to others, both locally and nationally.
Supported by Mrs Sara Sheldon (Head of PSHE) and Mrs Bhavika Patel (Charities Coordinator), the committee aims to encourage students to look beyond themselves, develop leadership and soft skills, strengthen character education, and build partnerships that make a real difference.
Led by nine Upper Sixth students, and chaired by Frida W (Weymouth) and supported by a wider group of Lower Sixth representatives, the committee has already made an excellent start. They have been educating younger year groups about a range of charities, ensuring that everyone has a voice in deciding which causes the school will support this year.

Recent projects include a strong focus on Food Bank Aid as part of our Harvest Festival, with students visiting the North Finchley hub that supports 33 food banks across North London and Hertfordshire. We are pleased to hear that the Volunteer Coordinator said our recent collection was the largest they had received from a secondary school all year!

For World Mental Health Day, Lower Sixth students created a moving video promoting positive messages across our community and raised funds for Beyond Conflict, reflecting the theme Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.
Looking ahead, plans for next half term include a winter coat collection for London Calling, a silent auction, and a student Christmas market. Together, these initiatives are helping to build a sense of unity and purpose across Mill School, reminding us all that whilst personal growth is important, it is equally vital to look beyond ourselves and make a difference to others.
