Little Shop of Horrors Production

Don’t feed the plants!

Our theatrical season came to a close with a rip-roaring production of Little Shop of Horrors. Zoe S (Priestley) and Juan G (School House) led the cast as Seymour, a set-upon flower shop employee who finds unlikely fame and fortune after discovering a strange and unusual new species of plant. However, when the plant starts demanding blood, Seymour faces a choice: give up his newfound acclaim, or sell his soul by giving into the plants demands…Over forty pupils featured on stage, including four puppeteers expertly operated our incredible plant puppets. ‘Little Shop of Horrors has been the highlight of my year,’ said Amelia H (Atkinson). ‘It’s been so fun getting involved with the singing, dancing and puppeteering, and has been a great experience that I would recommend to anyone wanting to join the musical in the coming years.’ Similarly, Maj-Britt O (Collinson) said ‘my favourite experience from the show was bridging the gap between year groups and getting closer to those in Remove and Fourth Form who I never thought I would have’. Reflecting on those same bonds created throughout the rehearsal process, Fliss S (Winfield) said ‘this show didn’t just grow a plant – it grew a family’.The show closed the curtain on a packed 25/26 Drama season, including nine co-curricular shows, twenty performances, twelve house plays, seventeen original, pupil-written scripts and eighteen academic productions. Looking ahead to next year, we are thrilled to be holding the inaugural Mill Hill Fringe Festival, followed by the school’s debut at the ArtsDepot Finchley for our whole school production of Les Miserables. Keep your eyes peeled for audition information in September!
