News from Our Boarding Houses

Burton Bank
The first half of term in Burton Bank has been vibrant and full of energy. Pupils have made wholehearted contributions to both House and School life, with many representing Mill Hill in a variety of sports. Notably, several stepped outside their comfort zones to try new disciplines, demonstrating admirable courage and team spirit. Our full boarding weekend to Watford was a great success, offering a welcome chance to unwind, with cinema outings proving especially popular. A particular highlight was our victory in the interhouse table tennis competition, where Bohao C’s (Remove) outstanding performance stole the show. While our debating efforts fell short this time, preparations are well underway for the upcoming House Drama, and spirits remain high. It’s been a rewarding start to the year, and we look forward to building on this momentum after the break.

Collinson
The first half term in Collinson House has been bursting with energy, laughter, and new experiences as everyone has settled in brilliantly. Things began with a lively bowling trip, followed by a sunny open-top bus tour of London that tested both our sightseeing stamina and transport skills! Back at the House, highlights have included baking sessions, Miss Williams’ famous quizzes, and Roman R’s (Lower Sixth) Windsor tie masterclass, where Terry H (Lower Sixth) emerged victorious. House spirit has been strong, with commendations earned and great performances in the inter-house cross country from Tiane, Aaron, and Frank – and Roman securing the second-fastest time overall. Miss Kelly’s relaxing “spa evening,” a paintballing trip, and a cultural visit to Tate Britain added even more variety. The go-karting trip rounded off the half term perfectly, with smiles all round. It’s been wonderful to see friendships flourish and such a warm, supportive atmosphere develop in Collinson House.

Macgregor
This half-term in Macgregor House has been full of warmth, fun, and community spirit. Returning pupils have done a fantastic job helping our new boarders settle in, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere from day one. Pupils recently enjoyed a cosy evening of S’mores and music around the firepit, which was a lovely way to relax and bond. Our house trip to Watford was a great success, with cinema, bowling, and shopping giving everyone a chance to unwind together. Halloween was celebrated in style with a lively party full of creativity and laughter. A special highlight was the exclusive Old Millhillians dinner, attended by our Head of House, Elaine L (Upper Sixth), other Sixth Form pupils and Mr Meakin; a proud moment to represent Macgregor among former pupils.
As we head into the break, Macgregor continues to thrive as a supportive environment and we look forward to next half-term, when we’ll be celebrating Christmas in style!

Ridgeway
Ridgeway has had a wonderful half term of study, fun and friendships. We have welcomed new, old and former pupils, and it has been great to see them all bonding and making new friends. The House has had a few improvements this term with our TV room revamped as a study room and we have new furniture on order for the common and a re-covered pool table. The Ridgeway pupils enjoyed a Halloween party and then a trip to Watford on the full boarding weekend to finish the term. Some of the pupils took the option of visiting Tate Britain gallery and the more adventurous enjoyed a cold afternoon of paintball earlier in the term. Our drama production is in rehearsals for the keenly contested Interhouse Drama Competition which will happen on our return in November; watch this space!
