Sporting Highlights
This term has marked a period of exceptional achievement for sport at Mill Hill. Across rugby and hockey, our pupils have demonstrated remarkable skill, resilience, and commitment, resulting in outstanding performances both at home and abroad.
Rugby
Mill Hill Rugby has continued to go from strength to strength. With 170 matches taking place and over 260 boys representing the School.
The Under 14Cs were awarded team of the season for their undefeated campaign, under the leadership of Dr Morton and Ms Day. Alex BD has led the team exceptionally, with Harvey W and Rudy C also playing key roles.
The Under 15’s enjoyed a fantastic tour of Dubai in October Half Term with competitive fixtures against, Jumeirah English Speaking School and the Pinnake Academy. Felix W and Adam C have been stand out players with their dominant ball carries all season.
The Under 16 A’s have continued to grow under the tutelage of Mr Bloxham and Ms Lancaster. Arlo T has demonstrated outstanding leadership, with Saracens PDG players Sam P, Aidan B, Kotaro K and Milo R playing leading roles in the sides winning Middlesex Cup campaign, narrowly beating Hampton in the final 7-5.
The First XV have had yet another outstanding season winning 8 out of their 11 fixtures, with standout performances against Cranleigh, Finborough and Stowe. AJ H, Zac J, Tiane E, and Max W have all attended England U18 training camp in October, with several other players preparing to represent Saracens U17 and U18 in the Academy League after Christmas. The senior squads will continue to prepare for their tour of a lifetime to Australia in the Summer of 2026 in the coming months!
Girls Rugby has also been building with regular Tuesday training sessions and guest coaching sessions from England's Bean Earl and World Cup winning Red Roses Rosie Galligan and Marlie Packer. The girls are looking forward to their first tournament of the year in February.
Hockey
It has been an exceptional Hockey term at Mill Hill, with over 80 fixtures played and every squad demonstrating tremendous skill, character and passion for the sport.
Our U14 teams set the tone early in the season. The U14Bs, coached by Miss Alexander and Miss Wallwork, went unbeaten—a remarkable achievement for a newly formed squad. The U14As, led by Mr Hendy and Miss Sheffield, also impressed, securing a place in the Tier 2A semi-final after a standout qualifying performance.
The U15s enjoyed similar success. Guided by Mrs Ward and Mr Plummer, the U15Bs showed real perseverance, finishing with a superb win over Haileybury. The U15As, coached by Mr Diamond and Miss Stephens, lost just once all term and topped their group at the London regional finals, earning a well-deserved semi-final spot after Christmas.
Higher up the school, the 2nd XI, under Miss Aries, battled through a demanding fixture list, including a memorable victory over Forest. Our 1st XI, led by Julie M, capped an outstanding season by qualifying for the regional indoor finals and securing a national quarter-final place. We also acknowledge and thank departing players Julie M, Edie W, Bea C and Poppy F-M for their immense contribution.
With three teams still competing after Christmas, the strength and depth of Mill Hill Hockey is clear. Congratulations to all players and coaches for a truly inspiring term.
