We currently set aside a significant sum each year in order to fund scholarships and to allow us to provide bursaries to pupils whose families would otherwise be unable to afford our fees. The maximum amount awarded in any new scholarship or combination of scholarships (including Sixth Form scholarships) is 10% of a day or boarding fee, as appropriate.
A wide range of awards are offered to pupils entering the Fourth and Sixth Forms (Years 9 and 12). These awards broadly fall into two categories – Scholarships and Bursaries.
Scholarships, which attract a maximum of 10% fee remission, are available to pupils showing exceptional talent in a variety of areas both in the classroom and on the sports field. In addition to major awards, there are a number of minor Awards or Exhibitions also on offer. The Head, Deputy Head or the Assistant Registrar are happy to advise parents and feeder schools about any of these awards.
Full information about scholarships can be found on the Fourth Form Awards and Sixth Form Awards pages, including a downloadable application form.
Means-tested bursaries are available to new entrants to the School. Such awards are intended to extend the benefits of a Mill Hill education to pupils whose families would not otherwise be able to afford the School’s fees. In addition, the School makes provision for the award of hardship bursaries to assist families who experience sudden and unexpected hardship. Bursaries are funded from the School’s fee income, supplemented by contributions to The Mill Hill School Foundation Appeal.
Bursary awards are made by the Court of Governors upon the recommendation of the Foundation Bursary Committee. Families wishing to apply for financial support are encouraged to request a Bursary Application Form which is available from the Bursar’s office email@example.com.
ABC stands for A Better Chance. Thanks to the generosity of Old Millhillians, the Foundation is able to offer a full-fee bursary to a pupil (from a low income family) with the credentials to be successful at Mill Hill School. The donors who fund this bursary believe that Mill Hill gave them an excellent start in life, a basis on which to build success in their careers. They wish to make a similar opportunity available to a young person in the future.
