The decision was made after a full consultation process which involved pupils, parents and staff across the Foundation. During the Spring Term the boys will be asked to choose between Hockey and Football (although the Fourth Form will have a 6 week introductory period to Hockey for all) and will subsequently have an opportunity to train twice a week and play a full fixture list on Saturdays.
Initially we will be running two U14 teams, two U15 teams and three Senior teams with the aspiration to increase these numbers as the sport becomes more established at the school. We enjoy the luxury of having no less than five Football pitches onsite. Our Football team is led by Mr Bedford, who has previously been Head of Football at Colyton Grammar School for the previous seven years.
The pupil surveys suggested that there was a relatively low level of interest from the girls, but as it is one of the fastest growing female sports in the country we will certainly be reviewing female provision for the future.
