In Reception task time we have been having fun exploring the different percussion instruments and learning the correct names for them. The children improvised rhythms and took it in turns to lead the rest of the group. We found a good way to think of a rhythm was to use the pattern of the words of our favourite foods, there were some interesting combinations such as, “chocolate with mayo!”
