A team of our families work alongside the school to embellish the children’s Grimsdell experience – bringing to life opportunities for parents, children and staff to come together, on and offline. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, so whether you can dedicate five minutes per term or five days each week, your ideas and input are always welcomed!
Each year, the parent community selects a beneficiary charitable cause, alongside fundraising for the school itself. To achieve this, we sprinkle the school calendar with plenty of activities to complement the curriculum and termly topics. And if the pandemic has taught us anything, it is how to be creative in the way we support and engage with our children, families and staff alike.
In the real world, the GPA achieves all of this by creating a catalogue of events which, amongst others, have so far included hamper raffles, art auctions, race nights and pantomime performances, culminating in an end of year extravaganza, Parents Day. Throughout the year we sell pre-loved uniform which not only helps families top up their school wardrobes at discount prices, but also promotes sustainability and raises money for good causes.
Online, we feature as @millhillpreprepparents on Instagram to showcase our vibrant school life – promoting GPA events and supporting families’ businesses to bring our parent community closer together.
We also raise funds for a few other charities over the course of the academic year – including Children in Need and MacMillan; plus we work in parallel with the school to celebrate key festivals and cultural moments, most recently Diwali and Black History Month; we are greatly involved with Sports Day; and we throw a party to remember for our Year 2 children to ensure they graduate from Grimsdell in style.
