This week in Year 2…

Steve Backshall has been so impressed with the children’s research, so he sent them another letter and rucksack – this time full of animals and books. He also set them another task! This time he wanted them to find out about animal life in the rainforest and the children excelled themselves as animal researchers! They used a variety of sources, such as books, EPIC, Kiddle and video clips, to find out facts about their chosen rainforest animal. Following on from their research, the children created their very own non-fiction page using all their knowledge about the features of a non-fiction book. It has been a pleasure to see the children’s creativity shine, as they continue to take ‘ownership’ of their journals and style their own pages.

In Maths, we have been identifying and naming 2D shapes and recognising when a 2D shape has been divided into equal parts or not. We also found fractions of amounts within the context of shape.
