This week in Year 1…

All of Year One started this week by having Forest School in the snow!  We kept warm with hot chocolate and a log fire as well as doing lots of running around! This was our last Forest School session with Mr Dobson so it was a wonderful opportunity to say a big ‘Thank You’ to him for all his wonderful Forest School teaching. We are certainly going to miss him!

Year One were also busy finishing their ‘Polar Bear in the Northern Lights’ paintings. We enjoyed using a wide range of painting and drawing techniques to complete these wonderful works of art! They look fabulous!

In Literacy, we wrote some non-fiction by recalling all the facts we have learned about polar bears and then used these facts to write Kennings poems. We noticed that each line contained two words: a noun and a verb ending in the suffix ‘-er’.

We have also been practising doubling numbers up to double 10 and using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to calculate number bonds to 20.

Here are a couple of photos of Year 1s fabulous finish, where we played outside in igloos, dressing up as Inuits!

Happy holidays!
