This week in PE…

This week our Reception children have been having lots of fun using a ‘parachute’. We all know how energetic children can be and parachute games are a great tool to channel that energy in creative ways. Pupils were focusing on the rhythm as they were learning how to move with a group of children, and how to listen.

They particularly enjoyed a game called ‘Cat and Mouse’ where the children kneel around the edge of the parachute, holding it in both hands. The teacher then chooses a child to be the mouse, and the mouse goes under the parachute. Another pupil is then chosen to be the cat, and goes on top of the parachute. It is then the job of the other children to make the parachute enough, so that the cat cannot easily find the mouse. The cat then catches the mouse, and others take their turn!
