This week, Year One have begun to learn about Queen Elizabeth II and some of the important events that have shaped her life. We have read the fiction text ‘The Queen’s Handbag’ which took us on a whistle-stop tour of the UK.
This led us into learning about some famous landmarks throughout the UK such as The Angel of the North, Snowdonia, Stonehenge and The Giant’s Causeway. In Literacy, we learned how to recognise and use the possessive ‘s’ to show ownership and we recalled interesting facts from non-fiction text and watched videos to help us sort statements about the Queen’s life into ‘True’ or ‘False’.
This week, we also celebrated Anti-Bullying week and the children were treated to a Lemon Jelly anti-bullying workshop which they thoroughly enjoyed.
