This week in Reception…

This week our focus has been looking after ourselves and our bodies. We started our week with a puppet explaining how they got ready for the day: having a wash, brushing their hair and teeth, and having a healthy breakfast. Reception have been creating art using toothbrushes dipped in paint, making a toothbrush from creative materials, and exploring large (fake) teeth using shaving foam as toothpaste.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our ‘Inside Out Day’ and came into school wearing an item of clothing inside out! We participated in a special streamed mindfulness moment with a newly formed youth mental health charity named ‘Now and Beyond. This is where we focused on our breathing alongside many other schools across the country raising money for children’s mental health.

In maths this week we have been learning about ‘directional language’ and using remote control cars to say where we want to move ‘forwards’, ‘backward’, ‘left’ and ‘right’.  The children have loved playing on Busy Things ‘Path Peril’ where the challenge is to follow the key to collect the boxes using the correct arrows. You could have a turn on this game at home over the half term.

In Phonics we have learned all of our sounds! Well done Reception! We had so much fun making paper aeroplanes and writing words that contain the ‘air’ trigraph in to throw outside during our cabins days.
