This week in Nursery…

What a truly eggciting week!

The children have loved science week. It started on Monday with a wonderful visit from some mad scientists. The children explored colour and light. This ignited some exploration of colour in Nursery. The children loved mixing colours and making new colours. They are also remembering what the primary colours are.

We then received our egg delivery on Tuesday. We received 5 eggs and the children have loved watching them hatch, learning how to look after the eggs and the ducks and teaching anyone that may pop into Nursery about how they should be looked after. The children have been creating a duck diary to record the process.

They have also enjoyed learning the new sound ‘d’. They decorated their sound card with dotty stickers, carefully using their pincer action to peel off the stickers and then stick them on the ‘d’ shape. They also named the ducks using the sound ‘d’. Linked to the sound ‘d’ we explored dominoes this week. This is a great game to play to develop the children’s subitising skills.

Today in Forest school we used clay to make creatures and to go alongside comic relief,  we will be adding red noses to our creatures. The children also took part in some mindfulness in the forest as part of comic relief.
