This Week in Reception…

Such a lovely Christmas feel in Reception this week, especially with the cold weather! We have spent the week doing lots of Christmas activities, cutting stockings, making Christmas cards, writing letters to Santa, rolling snowmen, designing decorations and so much more. We also have been enjoying what the cheeky elves in our classrooms have been up to and hearing all about your elves at home.

In phonics we have learnt the sounds ear, j, ow and ur. Ear was a great sound to learn at Christmas time while we take part in lots of reindeer activities, we made reindeers out of playdoh, created reindeer headbands, and rolled dice to create a reindeer face with bingo dabbers. We also learnt the rainbow words of and to, these have been sent home in your red folders. Keep practising all your flashcards and reading pages at home, you are all doing amazing Reception!

We have been busy rehearsing for our show all week and thanks to Mrs Wakefield and Miss Gale put on a fabulous show on Thursday and Friday. We are all so proud of our superstars, their singing and dancing was fantastic! Thank you to our lovely grown-ups for helping them practise their songs over the last few weeks!
