Year 8’s Ski in Italy

For 33 Year 8 pupils, the first Sunday of the Easter holidays was a very early, albeit very exciting, start as they were meeting at Belmont at 2am to go to Prato Nevoso in Italy for a week’s skiing. Despite the hour, they were buzzing throughout the flight and two coach transfers and so it was a relief to all when, 9 hours after meeting, we finally pulled into our hotel.

With six days of terrific snow and temperatures in the high 20s the week was a roaring success. The diverse après ski kept everyone amused in the evenings. The pupils had the opportunity to participate in a quiz night, bum boarding, a disco, bingo and crepes, and on the last night everyone enjoyed a trip to the cinema.

The hotel was ideally located and allowed everyone to ski in and out of it as soon as they were competent enough to do so. They catered incredibly well for all of our needs and with two main courses at every meal, provided plenty of food with a selection of bread and salads as well.

All in all a successful week was had by all – pupils and staff alike. A big thank you to all the pupils for a wonderful week, and also to Mrs Pym, Mr Hayward and Mr Symes for accompanying the trip and adding to its success.
