Admissions

The Belmont Journey

Belmont is a co-educational preparatory school for pupils aged 7 to 13. The main point of entry is at 11+ (Year 7).

Entry into Belmont is by examination, interview and reference from your child’s current school.

The process can seem daunting at first, but we aim to make it as smooth and enjoyable as possible! We will help you through the process and look forward to welcoming you to one of our Open Events which we encourage all parents and prospective pupils to attend so they can find out more about the school and meet members of staff and current pupils.

For details of our next Open Morning, please click here.

Information about our individual family tours can be found here, they take place midweek whilst the school is open, so you can experience Belmont in action.

We hope you will find all necessary information here, but please do email admissions@belmontschool.com if you have any further questions.

To register your child, please click on the REGISTER YOUR CHILD button below where you will be asked to complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable administration fee.

Register your child

You are invited to register as soon as you have shortlisted Belmont and upon receipt of a completed registration form and payment, we will confirm via email that your child has been placed on the entry list.

We welcome 50-60 boys and girls into Year 3 to start at Belmont each year. They join us from our Pre-Prep School, Grimsdell, and continue through Belmont up to Year 8 and join our Senior School, Mill Hill in Year 9.

Our main admission point is Year 7 (11+), where we increase the year group size, however, occasionally, we will admit additional children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6 and Year 8.

Please note that we offer bursary and scholarship awards for 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry.

Admission to Year 7 (11+)

We welcome 60-70 boys and girls into Year 7 each year to join our current Year 6 children at Belmont, and testing takes place during the Autumn term and at the start of the Spring Term of Year 6, prior to entering the school the following September.

The entrance assessment is in two parts. Part one, in November, comprises a creative writing comprehension exercise and a digital adaptive test which tests literacy, numeracy and reasoning skills. Successful candidates will be invited to Part two in early January, which involves a group interview, a short creative writing piece and a teamwork/problem solving exercise.

We do not provide practice materials for our 11+ computer test, however we will provide a familiarisation website to our test candidates.

Click here to complete the familiarisation questions.
