From Year 3 the children are encouraged to work in groups, with the ultimate goal of getting on stage to perform.
There is an opportunity to perform in every year group; in Year 6, the pupils put together an evening of variety entertainment on a theme. In recent years we have had “A Night at the Comedy” and an evening to celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary.
The Year 7 House Drama is a highlight of the school year and in Year 8 our main school production reaches dizzy heights: from Pride and Prejudice to Hairspray and Les Misérables, the exceptional quality of performance is always show-stopping.
We are also fortunate to have teachers who regularly write original pieces, the most recent a brand new musical, David, which was written by our Assistant Director of Music and Head of Drama and performed brilliantly by our Year 8 pupils.
Belmont pupils love performing…. even the quieter pupils end up enjoying the experience!
