Turning Obstacles into Stepping Stones

Dear Parents,

Stepping Stones

The week’s theme has been about turning obstacles into stepping stones. Miss Harrison gave a lovely assembly about how the pupils can see the tests and exams they are currently in the midst of as stepping stones to the next stage of their learning. If they have embraced the challenge of these academic tests and tried their best then they should feel very proud of themselves. As the children receive their results over the coming weeks they will find out about areas that that they have done well in and other areas where there is still work to be done. The tests are a stepping stone to take the children onto the next level of their learning and their quest for knowledge.

Belmont Cricket Festival

Thank you to Mr Bird and Miss Hockley for organising last Saturday’s cricket festival. The girls won both of their matches against Highgate and Heathmount and also had a coaching session with some Middlesex Women players. The boys also competed well against some tough opponents. All teams won 2 out of their 3 games but The Hall were worthy winners based on run rate. Our 1st XI team also made a good start to their Middlesex Cup campaign, bowling out Latymer School for 45 and knocking the runs off for the loss of one wicket.

Headmaster’s Commends

Zack (8PN) – For taking part in a Superhero fun run dressed as Wonder Woman.  He raised an astonishing £3,325 for the Winnicott Foundation, which supports care for premature babies and their families.

Hollie (7RG) – For a fantastic performance in some educational videos by the Bank of England

Drhuv (5MS) – A fantastic CLP project – an Aztec Temple.

James (8CM) – for showing character, determination and skill in scoring his first ever 50 playing cricket for Winchmore Hill.

Music Tour

Mrs Perrin and a team of teachers are taking 87 children on a music tour to Bournemouth this weekend. I hope that the children’s performances add even more sunshine to the lives of the people of Bournemouth during what promises to be a very pleasant weekend.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend with your family.

Best wishes,

Leon Roberts
