Head’s blog
Part two of Grandparents’ Day took place on Wednesday. For children who are lucky enough to have any grandparents around, there is a unique bond between grandchild and grandparent. Grandparents play such an important role in the children’s lives.
The pupils had a fantastic time on both Grandparents’ Days, proudly showing their grandmas and grandads around the school. I think our special guests had a lovely time gaining a real flavour of Belmont. Well done to all the children who took part in the concert as the standard of music was superb. There were some brilliant individual performances but the number of children taking part in Junior Choir was particularly encouraging; they made a beautiful sound!
Year 3 First Impressions of Belmont
Mrs Pendred, in her capacity as the Lower School English Coordinator and a Year 3 teacher, passed onto me some of the children’s reflections on their first few weeks at Belmont. I thought I would share just a few of them with you:
“ Also it’s the friends, love and friendship that really glues these Belmont walls together and without these things there wouldn’t be a Belmont, a Grimsdell or Mill Hill because that is what Belmont is made of.” – Katy Grant 3EP
“This is the best school I have ever seen in my life. I feel proud to be in this school” – Iris Iacouvou 3MS
“I have learned that we are not born clever we make ourselves clever by working hard and improving who we are” – Sophie Simmons 3MS
“The teachers are kind, funny and helpful” – Lexie Grant 3MS
“My feelings now compared to a few weeks ago were scared and shy. Now it’s really simple. Belmont is brilliant!” – Humza Bilal 3MS
“I feel really lucky to be here at Belmont and I love it!” – Mary Kavadas 3NH
“The school has so many places to explore.” – Arnav Pun 3NH
“I feel excited for my journey at Belmont.”– Saul Jacobson 3EP
“I’m feeling confident at Belmont because I have friends and I’m feeling settled in.” –Ben Laufer 3EP
“I feel a lot more grown up at Belmont. I get to choose my own lunch!” – Daniel Berg 3EP
Articulate and lovely children. I’m off now to choose my own lunch!
