Mill Hill’s Pathways to Success

Short Courses

Located in beautiful parkland, just 30 minutes from Central London, Mill Hill Summer School and Spring School provides both the perfect starting point in any international pupil’s educational journey, or alternatively an opportunity to consolidate English and academic subject knowledge for the more experienced.

Our short courses are aimed at both pupils who will be joining British Boarding Schools and at those who wish to sample British education in the summer. We offer courses to boys and girls aged 12-17, combining English learning either with Mathematics and Science or with Sport. These core elements are complemented by a varied programme of Creative Activity classes, which include Music, Dance, Drama, IT and Art. Although the focus of our courses is on academic progress, the varied social programme and the exciting range of sports, activities and excursions ensures that students will find their summer both stimulating and rewarding.

Courses last from 2-8 weeks and enable young learners to consolidate their knowledge of English, whilst gaining an insight into life in a British boarding school.

Mill Hill International

Some of our Summer School students take the next step in their journey either to Mill Hill International or directly into Mill Hill School.

At Mill Hill International, our Year 9 course is designed for pupils preparing to study GCSEs in the UK from Year 10. Pupils who arrive at the start of Year 10 follow a traditional Two-Year GCSE course with 8-12 GCSE subjects. The One-Year GCSE course is an intensive programme designed to prepare pupils for A Levels. Usually five GCSE subjects are studied with additional subjects offered according to ability and interest. Our intensive Fast Track course is ideally suited to students who require an English Language Foundation programme which will prepare them for our one-year GCSE course. Equally, the course is ideal for those who plan to return their own country with an enhanced level of spoken and written English after a minimum of one term. The main focus of the course is to improve the students’ level of English so that they are ready to study in an academic context. The aim of the course is to ensure students make rapid progress in their level of English. They are given specialist support from suitably qualified and experienced EAL teachers and progress is closely monitored through weekly tests. In addition to English, students study Mathematics, IT and the Creative Arts and are fully integrated into the sports and co-curricular programme.

Mill Hill International is an ideal bridge to an international pupil’s next school and many of our pupils apply to Mill Hill School to study GCSEs in Year 10 or A Levels in the Sixth Form. We help pupils with their applications by preparing them for the entrance tests and interview process.
