Christmas at Mill Hill International

We celebrated Christmas in style on Friday 9 December. Wearing our Christmas jumpers with pride we enjoyed a delicious traditional Christmas lunch of roast turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, parnsips, carrots, brussel sprouts, red cabbage and pigs in blanket (sausage wrapped in bacon) all in a delicious gravy. For dessert we enjoyed a red fruits pavlova and some Christmas pudding and mincepies. Delicious!

After lunch, we all headed to the gym to enjoy our annual Christmas Assembly carefully curated by Mr Patel and Mr Parker. Mr Imbrah and Harry (Year 11, BB) were our musical directors, Donya (Year 11, Collinson) and Aidan (Year 9, Oak) were our stage managers, Ms Clossick was our compère and we found out that Mr Rich is something of a standup comedian.

We enjoyed a wide variety of performances – certainly something for everyone. As well as a staff song, tutor group songs, a Christmas quiz and Christmas bingo, pupils in Year 9 performed two songs from the musical Annie with fantastic choreography. Ms Moustafa and Ms Collet wowed the crowd with their performance of Merry Christmas Everyone.

There were some superb solo and ensemble performances from pupils. Anhelina (Year 10, Oak) sang and played guitar accompanied by Mr Imbrah. Pacem (Year 11) and Clarice (Year 11) of Oak House performed a medley of songs by One Direction. Kendwa (Year 9, Oak) recited a poem. Jason (Year 10, Oak) played Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach on the flute. Harry (Year 11, BB) performed a piano solo, “Snowman” by Sia while Munisa (Year 11, Macgregor) also impressed with a piano solo, “River into You”. Louisa (Year 11, Ridgeway) and Clarice (Year 11, Oak) played a medley of Christmas songs on the violin.

It was a super show and a fitting way to celebrate Christmas.
